Fairbridge abuse claims outlined in the leaked report
One of the main findings that emerged from the leaked details from the confidential report by the former Liberal Democrat environment minister Sir Norman Tebbit into child abuse allegations involving the church is that abuse is so rife that police officers have trouble dealing with it.
He said it shows that the culture of the church was dysfunctional.
He has said he felt «very embarrassed» and «really shocked».

It also suggests that «child abuse is far bigger than one priest may think».
Mr Miliband said a report «should be made public immediately».
In the document, leaked to the Press Association, Sir Norman Tebbit is quoted as saying the «culture within the church was not fit for purpose» and «the abuse took place at many places».
He went on to say that «in the course of the last five years there have been a staggering number of allegations and allegations of serious child abuse, especially by high priests, and yet that’s only one example of what we’ve come to terms with».

«All but the most serious and serious victims of abuse were left to cope with it themselves.»

He made the same apology in 2014 in a letter to other priests during a trip to Scotland.
He told BBC News on Thursday the fact that no-one spoke out for a long period, with some going on to run their own charities in their own time, was «an indictment of the system».
